Crystal, Herb, and Chakra Healing

It is important to remember that not all things give off the same energy.  Energy can be weak or strong, hot or cold.  Energy can also affect people differently, just like radiation or drugs can have different effects on different people or on specific organs within a person.  Stones and herbs can be very useful tools once a person learns how to focus their energy.  In crystal healing, some stones give off a positive energy that may help specific organ functions or processes in the body or mind.  Some crystals may also be harmful or can be over-used to the point of experiencing adverse affects.  None of this, however, is magic; it is natural.  A crystal or herb will not make a person magically fall in love with you.  What it may do is affect your body or mind to make you seem healthier, happier, or make you more aware of your own beauty.  A lot of the possible affects are a state of mind.  If you want it to work and have no doubt about it, it will.  Likewise, if you don’t believe in it, then it is a wasted effort.  Herbs can work like stones, but these also have a chemical effect on the body.  Think of a comfort food you like to eat and the way it makes you feel after a terrible day.  Herbs can work in much the same way.  One common use for herbs is in the practice of aromatherapy.  Our sense of smell was a profound affect on how we experience things, and can even change our perception of our environment.  Being that the essential oils that are used are natural, they don’t leave behind toxins or give the adverse side-effects the medications do.  Herbs can be used by themselves or in combination. They can also be burned or infused with a light oil to enhance their scent.  Many of their uses depend in a large part on a personal preference.  Just like with the sense of taste, the scent of an herb and its affect can vary by the person.  It is often found that the scents a person most enjoys are the ones that have the best effect.  Oils can work aesthetically or when ingested, and can act on the body in physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and energetic levels (Pencraft L, 2008). Extra care should be used, though, as some herbs should not be ingested or should only be prepared in a specific way.  Certain combinations of herbs and/or stones could also be harmful.  Only a person who has spent time studying stones and herbs should attempt to use them.

Chakras are of a vital, physiological and mental importance.  The seven chakras are spaced in the body near to specific organs where feelings are picked up.  These feelings travel up the body and become emotional feelings in the brain.  It is important for the chakras to be properly balanced so that energy can move smoothly.  A disruption at any one of the chakras can not only affect transmission to, but also from the brain.  This can cause any number of health problems (Goswami, 2008).

Mind-body disease develops when the wrong mental meaning is given to physical ailments and creates problems between our physical body and vital body.  Mind-body healing is changing the context of thinking, possibly through meditation.  Quantum healing is when consciousness jumps into a new context in order to heal.  Illness can come through a defect or block in the physical or vital body; an example is disfunction of the immune system caused by the energy of the heart chakra being blocked by “excessive intellectualism”.  The consciousness makes a leap in insight as to what context needs to change and what is needed for healing (Goswami, 2008).
